Car Accident Injuries: Healing After Your Crash In Texas

The type of car accident injury you suffer can make a huge difference in the quality of your life afterwards. Car accidents are a leading cause of injuries, and when you suffer one, you deserve to get the care and compensation you need to live your life as positively as possible.
Did you know that in 2012, there were over 5.6 million car accidents in the United States alone? A total of 30,000 of those accidents were fatal, while another 1.6 million resulted in injuries. What kind of injuries are the most common? Head and back injuries are at the top of the list and are some of the most serious car accident injuries that can occur.
When a person is in a car accident, he can hit his head on the dashboard, steering wheel, windows or other items. That alone can cause head trauma and brain injuries ranging from mild concussions to long-term brain damage. Back injuries are also common, particularly from whiplash or quick impacts. Damage to the spinal cord can cause patients to be paralyzed or left in pain; even a pinched nerve can take months or years to heal correctly, leaving patients with debilitating back pain.
Other common injuries include neck and chest injuries, like bruising from the seat belt or whiplash, which results in ligament damage and neck muscle trauma. Whiplash can be suffered in various degrees, from minor stiffness to severe headaches and trauma. Interestingly, those unable to speak or with hoarse voices following an accident may have suffered from vocal cord paralysis from the car accident, another kind of neck trauma.
