Six Crewmembers Of “Texas” Die In Truck Accident
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Truck Accidents on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.
Six individuals involved with the musical drama “Texas” reportedly died on Monday in a truck accident north of Amarillo. The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by a crew member turned into the path of a semi tractor-trailer. In addition to the six crew members who died, two other individuals were injured in the accident, one of them being the truck driver.
According to the Department of Public Safety, alcohol may have had a role to play in the accident. The crew members had apparently been driving back from an annual cast party near Dumas. The accident was not the only one to have befallen those involved in the production of “Texas,” a show in its 48thseason of production. Back in 2001, a “Texas” dancer was killed in a single-vehicle rollover while driving to a show.
Investigation is ongoing into the accident, so we’ll surely be finding out more in the days and weeks to come about the incident. Accidents like this that take the lives of numerous individuals are indeed tragic, even when there were obvious mistakes by the victims. In some crashes, there is fault on both sides that comes out as investigations proceed.
Many people assume that personal injury actions deal with incidents in which one party or the other was at fault for the accident. In reality, though, the law allows juries to recognize that numerous parties may be at fault.
In a future post, we’ll take a closer look at comparative negligence and how this applies to wrongful death cases in Texas.
