A new film by Werner Herzog highlights an issue that is a cause for concern in nd everywhere else in the United States: texting while driving. The film, prompted by AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile officials, is somewhat of a public service announcement, and fits into a wider campaign to educate young people on the risks of cell phone use while driving.
The bottom line of film is that it is not worth it to send a text or take a call while driving. It is always better to pay attention to the road and focus on responsible driving. So far the short film, From One Second to the Next, has been viewed more than 1.6 million times.
In Texas, distracted driving is a problem just like anywhere else. Texas does not yet have any bans on texting and cell phone use in place, except for drivers with their intermediate license.
Most of us know that texting while driving and other cell phone use is dangerous while driving, but still many people engage in it at one point or another. The trouble is that we don’t always accept that something bad could happen if we take that chance. But bad things happen with texting all the time.
Victims of such crashes have a right to receive compensation for injuries caused by careless driving. The costs can be enormous, depending on the severity of the injuries. Those who’ve been injured because of the carelessness of a distracted driver should contact an experienced personal injury attorney to have their case evaluated.
