Man Accused Of Trying To Hit Motorcycle As It Passed Him

On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Thursday, October 29, 2015.

An older driver who was involved in a motorcycle-car accident has been arrested for the part he played in the injury of a woman who remains in critical condition. According to the news, the man now faces two counts for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He allegedly claimed that he did not care that he had struck the motorcyclists.

When the accident took place, the driver, a 67-year-old man, claimed he was stung or bitten by a bug that caused him to swerve into the oncoming lane of traffic. That resulted in him hitting the motorcyclist who was trying to pass him in a no-passing zone. The accident has been caught on film, and some people, including the authorities, are questioning if the man intentionally hit the motorcyclists.

There were two people on the motorcycle: one, a 37-year-old man, and the other, a 38-year-old woman. The 38-year-old woman is still in critical condition, and there was no information on the state the man was in following the accident other than the fact that he did seek out medical treatment after he left the scene.

Both motorcyclists were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and the 37-year-old man was cited for passing in a no-passing zone and for having an invalid license. This makes the case interesting, because before the concerns of the older man trying to strike the motorcyclists, they may have been the ones facing the liability. Now, the other man could be held liable thanks to attempting to hurt the motorcyclists, if that is proven to be true.
