Hit-And-Run Driver Allegedly Found In El Paso

There are few times that a driver leaving the scene of an accident can explain away the neglect he’s shown. If the driver was seeking help, that may have been enough to ignore the fact that he left, but what if the person simply injured someone and fled? Once that driver is caught, he could be forced to face serious consequences.
A driver has been arrested in relation to a hit-and-run accident in El Paso, according to a news release from June 2. The news report stated that a 72-year-old man had been struck while walking along an El Paso street, but the driver didn’t stay at the scene. Instead, the police believe that the 20-year-old suspect fled.
The report claims that the 20-year-old man had been driving a 1996 Cadillac CTS east when he suddenly swerved to the left where the man was crossing the street. Because he swerved, he struck the 72-year-old man and left him with critical injuries. He was later discovered in the roadway before help arrived. Reports state that the Cadillac also struck a rock wall after hitting the man and before continuing to drive away from the scene.
The man who was struck was in critical but stable condition following the accident, and the hit-and-run driver was located shortly after when police identified a damaged vehicle. The same 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug paraphernalia warrants and suspicion of an accident involving an injury or death. Police haven’t reported on why they believe the accident took place or if drugs were involved.
