Crash Leaves 5 Dead, Several Injured In Texas

Five people have died in a crash that took place in a South Texas oil field. According to the news about the event, the oil field workers were in a van that crashed into a crude oil tanker truck. The oil truck burst into flames when it was impacted.
The accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. when the oil truck swerved to get out of the way of an oncoming pickup truck. At that point, the tanker rolled and caused the van and one other vehicle to strike it. The vehicles, which were traveling on U.S. Highway 83, had several people inside. Five were killed, three were injured, and one person is still in critical condition. The news reports that the person has burns covering 85 percent of his body thanks to the crash.
The accident is still being investigated, but police have reported that this kind of accident has been on the rise since the oil boom started in the region. With the addition of more traffic to the area and larger big rigs shipping out the oil, there have been more chances for accidents to occur. The news reports that fatalities are on the rise in the region, especially pertaining to crashes where three or more people are killed.
Crashes may not be intentional, but distractions or poor driving can result in life-altering consequences.
