Children Hurt, One Killed In Texas Car Accident
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Car Accidents on Friday, April 25, 2014.
One child, a 3-year-old boy, was killed in a recent accident in Texas, and his siblings were injured in the wreck. The boy did hang on until he got to the hospital, but he passed away from his injuries.
The car accident took place when the man driving, who is the father of the children, lost control of his SUV. The vehicle was on Interstate 45 at the time, in the northbound lane. After going out of control, the SUV flipped and rolled a few times, stopping only when it got to a feeder road.
During the rollover, the young boy and his sister, who is 5 years old, were ejected from the SUV. Another child, who is 2 years old, remained in the vehicle. The injuries to these surviving children, who were taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch to get care, are reported to be serious.
A fourth child, who is only 7 months old, was also involved. However, he was simply given the treatment that he needed by authorities at the scene of the crash, and he was then given to his grandmother.
The father initially went to the hospital to get treatment as well, but police have now arrested him. They discovered drugs in the vehicle and in the area around the crash.
Even in a single-car accident, it is very possible for passengers to be injured by the actions of a negligent driver. When those who are hurt are adults, they must know their own rights to medical compensation for their injuries. When children are injured, it is up to their families to pursue compensation on their behalf.
