Car Accidents: Getting The Right Information For Your Case
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Car Accidents on Thursday, November 6, 2014.
Are you suffering from a personal injury due to a car accident? If you are, then you know that filing your information and updating the at-fault party as to your needs is important to your case. Getting the right information to start with makes it easier to get in touch with those who were at the scene or responsible for your serious injuries.
After you’re in a crash in Texas, you’re required to file a crash report called a Form CR-2. This form can be filled out when the accident takes place or after you get the medical treatment you need to be safe and stable. Once you’re able to fill it out, you need to gather information about the accident and the people involved. This form is typically filled out in addition to the information collected by police. Some extra information that they may collect includes witness statements, observations about the road conditions, your medical condition, and the condition of the vehicles involved.
Remember to write down what the weather conditions were like at the time of the accident. Try to recall the road conditions and any unusual driving behavior of the other driver. Next, collect insurance information, names, addresses, phone numbers, vehicle descriptions and license plate numbers for all the vehicles involved.
If the police did not come to the scene, this information must be included on your Form CR-2, which officially submits the accident to the authorities and points out that there were injuries or property damage. This form can help back up your story if you need to seek damages from the other party.
