Can You Always Seek Compensation For A Truck Accident In Texas?

If you’ve been in a truck accident recently, you probably have a lot of questions. How will you afford to pay your medical bills? How will you make a living when you’re not able to work? Fortunately, with compensation, you can get through this situation.
Courts recognize that being involved in a truck accident automatically makes it more likely that you’re going to get hurt. Trucks themselves weigh substantially more than passenger vehicles; in fact, trucks that are fully loaded can be 80,000 pounds or more. An average passenger automobile weighs only 3,000 pounds, so it’s simply impossible for a vehicle that weighs that little to stand up to the damage a large truck can cause.
Accidents with trucks may happen more frequently due to the driver’s inability to see in blind spots, being unable to stop quickly or having slower acceleration. Those aren’t excuses for hitting other vehicles, but it can certainly make a difference in an accident. If the other driver was at fault in your accident, you can seek compensation from the truck driver, his or her company and potentially others, depending on who else may be held liable.
Even if you’re partially at fault for the accident, you may be able to seek compensation for your injuries and the damage to your vehicle. How much you can get in compensation depends on how much you’re responsible for the accident. For instance, if the responsibility has been split 80-20 with you being only 20 percent responsible, you may have a better chance of recovering expenses than if you were 70 percent responsible for the accident.
