Fiery Wreck Near Bomarton Leaves At Least Two Dead

On Thursday, a truck accident on U.S. 277 near Bomarton left at least two people dead. The fiery crash involved several vehicles, including two trucks and a pickup hauling a flatbed. Apparently, a fire sparked and became uncontrollable due to a spill of hazardous material. At least two vehicles were burned in the middle of the roadway. A minivan, according to witnesses, may also have been involved in the accident.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, no one was taken to the hospital following the truck accident. The initial explosion is said to have come from the tanker truck filled with what is believed to be fuel. That truck was jackknifed in the accident and leaked hazardous material on the road.
A small grass fire started due to the flame, and firefighters doused the tanker with foam after allowing excess fuel burn up for roughly three hours.
According to Randy West, a trucker from Tennessee who had been hauling pipe on his rig at the time of the incident, a one-ton pickup headed north on U.S. 277 headed into the southbound lanes and hit an oncoming tanker truck head on.
At this point, it isn’t known whether any criminal charges or civil suits will come forward in connection with the incident.
Civil suits following an accident like this can involve claims of personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance claims. In pursuing these claims, there are often technical legal questions that are best dealt with by an experienced advocate.
