Texas Truck Accident Caught On Dash Cam
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Truck Accidents on Friday, April 11, 2014.
A truck accident in College Station, Texas, was caught on camera when the van that was hit recorded the entire thing with a dash cam. The accident occurred when a cement truck turned too sharply and at too high of a rate of speed through an intersection. The weight in the back of the truck pulled it over, and it flipped on its side and slid right into a minivan that was parked and waiting to travel the other way down the street.
The front of the minivan was smashed in, and there was extensive damage to the side of the cement truck.
While the dash cam video is terrifying and looks like someone probably died in the accident, the reality is that there were only minor injuries to both the driver of the minivan, a college professor, and the driver of the cement truck. Both are expected to recover fully from the wreck.
The professor told the authorities that he had put the dash cam in his car for just this type of incident. If he was in an accident, he wanted to be able to have evidence of exactly what had happened. While this was probably more dramatic than he anticipated, it is safe to say that the camera did its job very well indeed.
Truck accidents like this can still result in high medical bills due to the cost of an emergency response and the cost of the hospital visit. Drivers who are not at fault have a right to claim medical expenses and related costs, turning to civil action if need be.
