Woman Facing Charges After Fiery Truck Accident In Texas
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Truck Accidents on Friday, August 1, 2014.
A woman in Texas, who is just 28 years old, is now facing charges for manslaughter while intoxicated after she was involved in a fiery accident that left one other driver dead at the scene. Two semi-trucks and and two pickup trucks were all involved, with both of the pickup trucks ending up on fire in the road.
The accident took place at a stoplight on Texas 71, where one driver had pulled to a stop when the light turned red. The woman who was allegedly drunk behind the wheel came up in another pickup and slammed into the back end of the first one. The vehicles were crushed and exploded in flames. By the time that emergency personnel could get to the scene, the man driving the first pickup truck was dead.
Other injuries were reported to the drivers of the semi-trucks, though they are not thought to be serious enough to be considered life-threatening. Those drivers, along with the woman who was later charged in the incident, were taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge.
The authorities found that the woman had been drinking alcohol at some point during the day, and it was apparently still in her system during the accident. She got treatment for her injuries, and then the authorities took her to Bastrop County Jail.
When those who are injured in a truck accident pass away from their injuries, it is very important for the surviving family members to know what rights they have. There still may be steps that they can take to seek compensation in the case, depending on which driver was at fault.
