Know Your Rights As A Motorcyclist In Texas

When you are injured in a motorcycle accident, you face so many challenges. You could have medical care that will be ongoing, hospital bills to pay and pain that you deal with daily. You could be losing wages from being unable to work, or your serious injuries could mean you could never work again.
Being injured by a negligent driver leaves you with a few choices. You may be able to seek compensation for your bills and future expenses, for instance. If you’re struggling with ongoing medical needs due to a traumatic head injury or other severe disabilities caused by your accident, it’s your right to get that compensation and to use it in the way that best suits your needs in life now and in the future.
Did you know that it’s not a legal requirement for most motorcyclists to wear a helmet while riding? It’s more dangerous to drive without them, but under the law, you don’t need them. In Texas, for instance, if you’re over 21 and have $20,000 of health insurance and a motorcycle safety training course completed, you can legally be on the road without a helmet. In New Mexico, anyone 18 or older doesn’t need a helmet at all.
Because of these laws, there is no way that not wearing a helmet can come back on you in court. If you’ve suffered injuries but were following the law, you have the right to protect yourself against opinionated testimonies and allegations.
