This June 11 report about a man who was killed in a truck accident in Texas may be a reminder of an accident you’ve recently been through. Like this man, if you or a loved one is killed or injured in a truck accident, you have a right to seek compensation. You may not be able to get back a loved one or be able to heal quickly, but the money could help you get the medical care you need or cover final expenses.
In this case, a 62-year-old man was in Texas for a celebration of his brother’s ordination at a local church when a truck allegedly crossed a number of lanes of traffic before hitting him on the sidewalk. The news reports that the accident took place on 21st Street in Galveston, Texas, with multiple witnesses and bystanders nearby. The pedestrian who was struck was reportedly pronounced dead when the emergency medical services arrived.
After the police investigated for several hours, they decided to charge the driver. The 49-year-old man who was driving the truck has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault, according to the news. The police have not reported whether the driver of the truck was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The driver had allegedly been on probation for a narcotics conviction prior to the accident.
According to a witness, the driver of the truck was very disoriented following the crash. The witness reported that the man was trapped in his vehicle because of how he landed; a rock was preventing him from getting out of his vehicle.
