1 Dead, At Least 2 Injured In Fatal Truck Accident In Texas

Trucking accidents can be devastating for those involved. The heavy weight of the vehicles along with crushing forces from speed, overheating engines susceptible to catching on fire and the pure unpredictability of the accident all make for a dangerous situation. After being in a truck accident, many people are left with injuries, permanent and otherwise.
Sometimes, those involved aren’t as lucky as to survive the accident. In this case discussed in a May 19 news report, an accident that took place on I-37 turned deadly when a woman in an RV was struck and killed. The story reports that it was a cattle truck traveling north on the highway that struck the tail end of a semi. The cattle truck had been moving too quickly, and the impact resulted in the semi driver losing control of his vehicle.
When the semi was out of control, it struck an RV traveling on the inside lane of the highway. Inside, a 50-year-old woman was found dead from the accident. The woman’s husband was also inside the RV, and he had to be transported to the hospital for the treatment of his injuries. The cattle truck driver also suffered injuries requiring hospitalization.
Besides the human casualty, several of the animals in the cattle vehicle were also killed. They remained on the highway for several hours while police and authorities worked to investigate and clean up the area. The police have indicated that the cattle truck driver will be cited for speeding, but there has been no news on if any other charges will be filed.
