Two From El Paso Die In Morning Car Accident
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Car Accidents on Friday, May 9, 2014.
Two people from El Paso are dead in the wake of a car accident that happened in the early morning, close to Sierra Blanca. The accident took place on Interstate 10 West, and it took the lives of three detention officers in an SUV, two of whom were from El Paso.
According to the police reports, the person who was driving the SUV attempted to pass another vehicle, but the lane change that they were to about to do was unsafe. As a result, the vehicle careened out of control and crashed. This happened at about 6:30 in the morning, and there were five people total inside of the SUV.
The three people who were killed were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. As a result, they were thrown from the SUV, resulting in their deaths.
The driver of the vehicle, who was 20 years old and who was also from El Paso, suffered injuries, but he was stable at last reports. He and the other person who survived, who was also in stable condition, were taken to the Del Sol Medical Center.
The officers worked together near Sierra Blanca, at the West Texas Detention Facility.
After an auto accident that claims the lives of some of those involved, police will do an investigation to determine who was at fault for those deaths. If the driver has survived and is held responsible, the families of those who were killed could pursue wrongful death lawsuits. Even those who survived may also need to take on lawsuits in order to be able to afford their medical bills.
