Traumatic Brain Injuries: Varied And Unpredictable

Brain injuries come in many forms, and understanding more about yours can help you learn why you need to make a claim for the right amount of compensation after you’re injured. While brain injuries vary in type and severity, they are also unpredictable. This means that you need to take strides to be sure you get enough money to cover your bills now and into the future.
Traumatic brain injuries are very common. These can be things like concussions from a car accident or sporting event. Whiplash can also cause some of the same issues as a head injury, like putting pressure on your spinal cord or causing headaches and can be caused in the same kind of accidents.
Traumatic brain injuries can be minor, requiring only a short recovery time, or they can be severe, causing you years of pain and requiring rehabilitation. Concussions may not show up on your CAT scan or MRI, either, making them harder to diagnose. Severe head trauma that comes with bleeding on the brain may require surgery to stem the bleeding and to drain the blood that has accumulated. Without that, the brain can be damaged by the extra pressure caused by the swelling of the brain and the extra fluids on the brain.
With a brain injury, you could also suffer a penetrating injury. These injuries are caused when an object, whether it’s a bullet, branch, or other item, pushes itself, hair, or bone fragments into your brain. Firearms are the most common cause of these injuries with 91 percent of bullet wound-related traumatic brain injuries causing death.
