Officer Killed In Line Of Duty When Struck From Behind

No one is immune to motor vehicle accidents, least of all those who spend most of their time around other vehicles. If you’re hurt because someone collides with you or you lose a loved one because of another person’s dangerous driving, it’s important that you get to file a claim for compensation. That might be what happens in this case of a police officer who was killed in a chain-reaction crash.
According to the news, the El Paso police officer was injured when he was stopped at a red light. A car approached from behind and struck him. He was then struck again by a 45-year-old man in a Kia Optima; that man also had to be hospitalized following the crash.
That initial collision resulted in another vehicle, an Acura, being struck by the Kia. The Acura was forced into the rear of a 1976 Chevy pickup truck, too, adding to the damage of the collision. Maybe most shockingly was the fact that the Kia caught on fire after the crash, also catching the motorcycle on fire in the blaze. It wasn’t reported if the driver of the Kia was hospitalized for burn injuries.
So far, no one has been charged for the collision, but following the crash, the officer did pass away at the hospital. An investigation is still ongoing, and charges could be placed in the future as the facts are determined. This is not the first time a motorcycle officer has been killed while working in Texas in 2016; he’s the second to suffer the same fate.
