Motorcycle Accident Victim To Undergo New Treatment For Spinal Injury

An East Texas man who suffered a spinal injury in a motorcycle accident five years ago will likely be able to walk again because of new medical procedures. The accident left the man paralyzed from the chest down, but clinical trials involving a scaffolding and stem injection technique give him hope that his spinal injury will not prevent him from being mobile once again.
The technique is reportedly designed to rejuvenate and strengthen an injured spine, and has been successfully tested on animals in the laboratory with perfect success. The East Texas man is one of the first to be receiving the treatment.
Motorcycle crashes, regardless of their cause, can have significant consequences. Different types of crashes have different likelihoods of causing certain injuries. Single vehicle crashes and collision with fixed objects are particularly likely to leave a motorcyclist with a spinal injury. Rear-end crashes, however, have the greatest likelihood of leaving a motorcyclist with a spinal injury.
Helmets do help reduce head injury in crash victims, but don’t offer a great deal of protection for the spine. The costs of treatment, as well as pain and suffering, and loss of income, are great when a motorcyclist suffers a spinal injury.
It is important that anybody who has suffered a spinal injury in a motorcycle accident consult with an attorney to determine their options for obtaining compensation from any liable parties. Far from being an attempt to put the blame on somebody else, doing so is sometimes the only way to hold at fault parties responsible for the consequences of a crash.
