5 Students Suffer Injuries After Crash In Texas
On behalf of Lovett Law Firm posted in Car Accidents on Thursday, December 4, 2014.
This shocking news may have reached you if you know someone at &M. According to a recent news report from Dec. 1, five students were injured in a head-on crash on Highway 105 East. All five of the students had to be hospitalized following the accident.
What happened to cause so much devastation? The news reports that it was around 8:30 p.m., when a pickup truck being driven by a man from Cleveland, Texas, crossed the centerline that the accident took place. He entered the students’ lane, causing the vehicles to hit head-on. The vehicle with the students inside did try to swerve, police reported, but they were unable to avoid the truck.
Paramedics on the scene reported that they had to cut out two of the students who were trapped in the car. It took a half an hour to get everyone out of the wreckage. Two people, a 22-year-old and 24-year-old, both were in critical condition when they were rescued. So far, no one has been charged for this accident, although charges may be placed later. There was no news about the medical state of the driver in the pickup truck.
If you’ve been in an accident like this one or know someone who has, there are options you can pursue. You may be able to file a personal injury claim, for example, which would allow you to request compensation for your injuries, both physical and mental. If someone is killed in the accident, a wrongful death claim could also be filed based on your personal situation. In any case, it’s best to look into all your legal options before you proceed.
