1 Killed In Motorcycle Accident In Longview, Texas

Motorcycle accidents are very often caused by drivers who cut motorcyclists off. For example, a driver may pull out into traffic to make a left turn and not realize that a motorcyclist was in the lane. That collision would result in the motorcyclist having a head-on or near-head-on collision, which could result in serious injuries or death.
That’s similar to what happened in this situation. The news reported that a serious and fatal accident took place on the highway in Longview when a tractor-trailer and motorcycle collided in Tyler.
According to the news, the man on the motorcycle was traveling south toward the intersection of Loop 323 and U.S. 271 before the accident occurred. When he approached the intersection, a Freightliner’s driver turned left into the interstate gas station. It’s not clear if the driver didn’t see the motorcyclist or if he was simply distracted, but the motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man, was unable to stop and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer. While the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, his injuries were severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
When the investigation was completed, investigators determined that the driver of the tractor-trailer had not yielded to the right-of-way of the motorcyclist. There hasn’t been a report on whether or not the driver will face charges for the incident. If your case sounds similar to this, remember that family members can seek compensation for a person’s wrongful death; if you’re injured, you can seek compensation for those injuries through the driver’s insurance or a civil lawsuit.
